Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
An American psychologist called Roger Callahan developed emotional
Freedom Technique in the 1970's. It involved 'tapping' the body's 365 acupressure
points to aid restoration of the body's energy flow. The technique was revised
by a personal development coach called Gary Craig, who only used 11 of these
points. It is this routine that is used by many of the worlds 3,000+ EFT
practitioners.
EFT practitioners describe their therapy as an 'emotional form of acupuncture'.
A client is assisted in tuning in to their problem; the practitioner will then
use fingertips to tap a map of points, and a series of affirmations to bring
about balance. The technique is said to aid many conditions from anxiety and
stress, to phobias, compulsions and pain.
The technique can be self administered after a period of study.
